Atletico Mineiro to the Copa Libertadores final

The Brazilian Atletico Mineiro booked a place in the final of the South American Football Libertadores Cup, after drawing 0-0 with its Argentine host Riverplate at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.

Atletico Mineiro, the 2013 title holder, had come a long way towards reaching the final by winning the first leg at home 3-0, thanks to a double by veteran Deverson and a third goal by Paulinho.

The final will likely be a Brazilian confrontation for the fourth time in the last five years, after Botafogo’s great victory over the Uruguayan and Peñarol 5-0 in the first leg, which put it on the threshold of the final for the first time in its history.

Brazilian teams have dominated the championship title for the last five years.
