Cartabia: Al-Ahly youth’s priorities in the season “All Championships”
Shabab Al-Ahly player, Federico Cartabia, confirmed that his team is competing in all tournaments this season, with the aim of competing for their titles, stressing that the “Dubai Knights” does not give a specific competition priority at the expense of other tournaments.
Cartabia told Emirates Al-Youm that Al-Ahly youth are playing the current season with the same ambitions they played in previous seasons, explaining: “Since I joined the team, there has always been one goal, which is to compete for any tournament in which the team participates.
” He added: “We participate in many tournaments throughout the season, and we do not think about focusing on a specific tournament, and the priority is the next match that we are preparing for.
”
Regarding his evaluation of Shabab Al-Ahly’s results so far, he said: “I see that the start is good, with the team getting a full score in the ADNOC Professional League, and we also qualified for the quarter-finals of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, while we will begin our journey in the President’s Cup by facing Dibba Al-Hisn, which will not be easy.
” “At the continental level, we could have achieved a better result in the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2 competition, but the tournament is just beginning, and we have a great chance of qualifying to the second round.
”
He pointed out that it is not possible to rely on Shabab Al-Ahly being among the most prominent candidates to compete for the Asian title, and he said: “Some may see that Shabab Al-Ahly is the strongest candidate to win the AFC Champions League title, as we must look at these nominations from a positive perspective that the team actually includes a good group.
” Of the players capable of achieving the title, while at the same time we must translate this into reality by presenting strong matches and focusing on achieving victories.
”
He continued: “We achieved victory in the first match against Al-Hussein Irbid on our home soil, and it was a good start, while we were not successful in the second match against Nasaf, and we must make up for it in the upcoming matches, so that we can pass the group stage.
”
As for the team wasting many opportunities, he said: “Creating opportunities and reaching the opponent’s goal is a good thing, but we certainly have to improve on the issue of scoring goals, because not taking advantage of opportunities makes the team’s task difficult and contributes to our loss of many points.
”
He concluded: “We are doing well with Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa, and we are working on getting used to the way we play, and we are focusing on improving in each match in a way that is better than the one that preceded it.
