In the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 (Women’s T20 World Cup) played on Sunday 20 October at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, New Zealand won its first title by defeating South Africa by 32 runs.

Sunday was a historic day for New Zealand cricket.

While the New Zealand men’s team registered its first Test win in India after 36 years, a few hours later the women’s team gave the country the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup trophy for the first time.

After defeating South Africa in the final, the Kiwi team did this tremendous celebration.

All-rounder Amelia Kerr, who was chosen Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, played the guitar and the entire team standing behind kept singing songs.

International Cricket Council has posted this video on Instagram, which everyone is liking.

On the other hand, South Africa’s heart was broken again.

South Africa once again proved to be ‘chokers’.

South Africa, which had reached the finals thrice, had to be satisfied with the second prize.

Runner-up in Cape Town last year, runner-up in the men’s final in Barbados and now again in Dubai.

However, South Africa performed brilliantly and defeated defending champion Australia in the semi-finals and made it to the finals for the second consecutive time.

Talking about the final match, South African captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and decided to bowl.

New Zealand scored 158 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

For New Zealand, Amelia Kerr scored 43 runs in 38 balls.

Brooke Holiday played an inning of 38 runs in 28 balls.

Apart from this, opening batsman Suzy Bates scored 32 runs on 31 balls.

For South Africa, Nonkululeko Mlaba took 2 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs.
