The UAE national team participates in the World Cup of fencing with 5 female players

The UAE Fencing Federation announced the participation of the national team with five players in the World Cup for Girls and Women in the Epee Fencing, organized by the Federation and hosted by the Zayed Sports Complex in the Emirate of Fujairah during the period from the eighth to the 10th of next November, under the supervision of the International Federation of Fencing.

The Secretary-General of the Fencing Federation, Musa Al-Balushi, said: “Five female players were chosen to represent our national team in the tournament, and they are: Al-Anoud Al-Saadi, Zainab Al-Hosani, Sheikha Al-Zaabi, Mira Al-Hammadi, and Lamar Al-Nahla.

” He explained that the number of female players who have registered to participate in the tournament so far has reached 180 players from 28 countries, with the possibility of increasing the number before registration closes tomorrow.

He explained that the regulations of the International Federation of the organizing country allow 20 female players to participate as a host country, which prompted the UAE Fencing Federation to open the door for female national club players to participate in the tournament, alongside female national team players.

Al Balushi stressed that organizing and hosting this tournament comes within the framework of the Federation’s strategy to emphasize the status of fencing in the Emirates, enhance its position on the global level, and at the same time provide strong contact opportunities for the players of our national teams and our local clubs.
