Could WWE Book John Cena To Retire As A Grand Slam Champion?

Unrelenting, undeniable, and the one who never gave up.

John Cena’s legacy in the WWE shall go down as one for the ages when the time comes to draw the curtains on his highly-decorated 25-year career.

No achievement, no title has escaped the grasp of the 16-time World Champion.

Alongside his 16 WWE World Championship reigns, he’s won the United States Championship and Tag Team Championship multiple times.

Well, no title has eluded him except one: the Intercontinental Title.

The Intercontinental Championship is one of the most prestigious championships as it is a stepping stone to becoming the WWE Champion.

However, it’s one championship that has eluded Cena from becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

As the ‘GOAT’ Cena embarks on his farewell tour, questions arise about how the WWE may book his final year.

Retiring Cena as a Grand Slam Champion — one who has conquered and clinched the the WWE World, Intercontinental, United States, and WWE Tag Team Championships — would most definitely a befitting way to honour his career and legacy.

But, as per reports, it seems as if WWE have planned out a plan of action that shall see Cena clinch his 17th World Title, making the possibility of the wrestler also attaining the status of Grand Slam Champion a logistical hurdle.

But, acclaimed wrestling podcaster and interviewer, Chris Van Vliet also believes that one cannot rule out the possibility of allowing Cena to fulfill the dream.

“I think that he wins number 17.

I think there’s also a very good possibility that he wins the Intercontinental Championship.

” However, van Vliet, just like the rest of us, did admit it wasn’t necessary to make Cena’s send-off memorable.

“But let’s be honest here, let’s be completely honest here, he doesn’t need it.

He doesn’t need it at all,” van Vliet remarked.

The specification of becoming a Grand Slam Champion has changed several times due to the championships that retired in WWE.

Cena’s WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship, and Tag Team Championship victories are almost enough for Cena to qualify as a Grand Slam Champion but he needs to win the Intercontinental Championship to fit the bill as per the franchise’s definitions.

No matter what, Cena’s legacy speaks for itself, and he shall be embraced and regarded as one of the best to ever step onto the ring once he calls time.
