Donald Trump scripted an unprecedented and forceful political comeback to the White House on Wednesday, but it is likely that he will not be President till the new year.

It can take several more weeks for Trump to take the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States, as the detailed process to accurately count ballots falls into place.

While he has won 277 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’s 224, a thorough examination will be underway to determine who won the most electoral college votes.

Here is a list of important dates post election night: Certification of electoral votes: According to a report published by Time, state election officials certify if the results are accurate.

The US Election Assistance Commission said Delaware will be the first to tally, followed by the key battleground state of Georgia by November 23; Michigan on November 25; and North Carolina as well as Nevada on November 26.

Come December, Wisconsin will certify electoral college results on December 1, while the deadline for Arizona is December 2.

There is no specified deadline for Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Before being named President, there are some more steps as governors formally appoint the winning candidate’s electors.
