Ridhi Dogra Checked Legal Permission To Star With Fawad Khan in Abir Gulaal: ‘I Wouldn’t Have Done It If…’

After establishing herself with numerous popular television roles, Ridhi Dogra is steadily transitioning to the big screen, taking on significant roles in both films and web series.

In 2023 alone, she made an impact in two major films: Atlee’s Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3, featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Additionally, she appeared in Amazon miniTV’s Badtameez Dil and Prime Video’s Mumbai Diaries 26/11, further showcasing her versatility.

As Ridhi prepares for her next release, The Sabarmati Report, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, she also confirmed her involvement in an exciting project with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Riddhi revealed that the film, titled Abir Gulaal, also stars Vaani Kapoor.

When asked if she had any hesitations about working with Fawad due to his nationality, Ridhi openly shared her thoughts: “I am proud to be an Indian.

Since my childhood, everyone has said that I will move abroad… But I don’t want to move.

” Ridhi continued to express her perspective on art transcending national boundaries.

“Wherever a person hails from… I do not think there is division in art.

Whenever we watch something, be it a play or a movie, we see only those characters.

We don’t ponder what the person’s (the actor’s) name is or who all are there in their house.

We don’t see all that; we don’t see nationality,” she explained, adding that she carefully ensured it was permissible to work with a Pakistani actor, noting, “The only thing I checked was if I was allowed to work with someone of the said nationality.

And yes, our country and government give us permission.

I did that homework.

If that wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t have done the film.

” Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, known for Chalti Rahe Zindagi (2024) with Seema Biswas, Barkha Sengupta, and Rohit Khandelwal, Abir Gulaal is described as a romance featuring Fawad and Vaani in the lead.

The film, currently in production, is expected to release in summer 2025.

Meanwhile, The Sabarmati Report, based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident and starring Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna alongside Riddhi, is set to premiere in theaters this Friday.
