RIP Quincy Jones: Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Lee Curtis Pay Tribute To Legendary Music Producer

Quincy Jones, the legendary music producer and composer, best known for his collaborations with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, passed away on Sunday, November 3, at his Bel Air home in Los Angeles.

He was 91.

Following the news of his passing, his family released a statement: “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing, and although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.

” Quincy Jones, a celebrated American record producer and composer, leaves behind a remarkable legacy that has inspired generations.

Tributes honouring him started pouring in after his death.

His long-time friend and musician, Harry Connick Jr.

, took to Instagram to share his respect and admiration.

Connick remembered Jones as “one of the greatest minds” in the music industry.

“My hero.

Truly one of the greatest minds the music world has ever known.

He was so kind to me, so wonderful, such an influence.

His legacy and his music will live forever.

Thank you for everything, Q.

You were the dude.

I love you and will miss you always.

Rest in peace,” he wrote on Instagram.

She began her heartfelt message, stating, “My beloved Q.

The one and only Quincy Jones “discovered” me for “The Color Purple” movie in 1985.

” She further mentioned how Jones impacted her life, stating, “I had never experienced, nor have since, anyone who’s heart was so filled with love.

He walked around with his heart wide open, and he treated everybody as if they were the most important person he’d ever met.

He was the Light.

No shadows.

” Honouring his legacy, Winfrey concluded her post with, “He was the Mightiest of Souls.

His life enhanced mine and every life he touched.

Another Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis shared a heartfelt tribute to Jones, recalling how her childhood home in Benedict Canyon later became the place where Jones raised his own family.

“His musical legacy is and will be written about for the rest of time, but the verisimilitude of time and place and the DNA of family is very personal and known to few.

To his children who played and grew there and to his family and friends, my hand in yours,” she added.
