Vikrant Massey Says 'Keep Side' Politics To Watch The Sabarmati Report: 'You're Left, Right...' | Exclusive
When the trailer of Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report first came out, it left the internet divided due to its controversial subject.
The film retells the story of the tragic Sabarmati train incident of 2002.
However, Vikrant Massey has urged the audience to keep their political inclinations at bay when they watch the film.
He hopes that the ‘polarised reactions’ to the trailer will change after the film is released.
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Vikrant said, “One thing we hope is that for once… this ‘polarised’ is one word which we keep encountering since we started talking.
We acknowledge that these are difficult times, and not just on social media, even drawing-room conversations have sort of become borderline toxic.
For once, we hope that you reflect on what happened in 2002 through this movie.
I think we still have some iota or ounce of humanity left.
”
Vikrant urged, “Whether you’re left, just keep that aside for two hours and 10 minutes.
Whether you’re right, keep that aside.
Just watch this as a tragedy which was also a result of collective ignorance, a collective failure to honour those people who actually were just people like you and me.
For once, we can see it as a human tragedy.
”
When asked how Vikrant ensured that the film only brings facts to light, the actor said, “I didn’t see… a lot of it was taken care of.
As an actor, you really cannot be expending your energy on working towards the research.
I mean, you can definitely have your say and our team is very democratic that way.
Everybody was allowed to have their say because there were decent heads on our shoulders, but there was an entire department which was delegated this.
”
“When we were given that research material, it was our responsibility as responsible actors to go home and make use of the internet the right way.
So we did that, but not in that green room where you were sort of shortlisting things that you want to talk about.
A lot of it was sort of delegated to people.
They did their job.
When the screenplay was ready, the facts according to the screenplay were presented.
Then we have to sort of corroborate it with our own intent or probably our own level of interest,” Vikrant added.
The Sabarmati Report also stars Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles.
The film is backed by Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and directed by Dheeraj Sarna.
The Sabarmati Report will be released on November 15.
